i like the sound of your first system exiting in front of the rear tire, and being 20 years old i looove loud trucks, hell i got a 1400 watt peak 12 inch sub being powered by a 1500 watt peak mono amp behind my seat

looks like imma haveto get some cash together to do the exhaust right lol
Hey man. I just turned 20 myself and I love loud trucks too.

Where I live we have strict emission laws also but I go to a guy who doesn't sniff.

Since you have strict emission laws I don't know what to tell you. Have you tried taking your muffler off and seeing what you think about it? Don't waste your money on high flow cats by the way. Not worth the money. My first system is the same as the system I have now. The only difference is where the pipes come out. It sounded better the first time. At certain rpm levels (mainly low) it sounded very mean and deep.

If you have to deal with emissions tests I would set up an exhaust with band clamps on both ends of the cats so you can drop out the cats and clamp in a piece of straight pipe when you are done with your emissions test. Summit sells Dynomax band clamps in both butt joint (no overlap between pipes) and lap joint styles. They come in a variety of sizes and are made of stainless steel and come with grade 8 bolts. Go to Summit and search for "dynomax stainless steel exhaust clamps" if you are interested. This would be the way to get the sound while working around emissions tests.

Just like 6CylBill said high-flow cats are a waste of time. I have one and it did not make a difference in the way the truck sounded, it is as quiet as the factory cat. I don't have emissions tests at all, so I am deleting it this spring.

I think you're on to something. I think another idea would be to install a leaker. What do you think?

See if this link works for you. Another term is "exhaust cutout". I plan on installing one the next time I have my exhaust worked on.

So it's a cutout, I get it now. That would work great if he wants to just have it dump and run straight pipes so he can be real loud! I've seen the electric cutouts and those are really slick.

Well I see the link didn't work. If you want to see them just go to Jegs and go to Exhaust, and then Exhaust Cut Outs. They are priced to sell. I think that would be the way to go. You can keep your cats and still have a loud truck. I think straight piped 300's sound hecka mean. That ought to do the trick!

And the meanest sounding truck around, excluding Muffler-less Cummins.

Straight piped / open manifold 300's sound pretty mean.
