i don't think i'm going with cutouts.... my aim is more towards durability and reliability, not racing and performance... I want to know that i'm going to drive it back after a day of mudding or trail driving, and not have to call a tow truck from the middle of nowhere... I don't really care what it looks like, sounds like or anything else as long as I know its getting me home
that's why i love my truck i can drive it to the mudhole and drive it back it's never left me stranded and i can also take it to the drag strip and whoop up on some of the slower mustangs and camaros there
my cutouts havn't caused any problems with mudding or anything, i ripped one of my mufflers off in a hole 45mins away from home (it was because of how i had my exhaust routed not the cutout) and all i had to do was pop off the caps on the cutouts to equalize the backpressure instead of trying to find a way to cut the other muffler off (my exhaust is welded on) then i drove home and even drove past a cop with a radar gun and he didn't give me any trouble

does anyone know how a 4.9l would sound with a ling glasspack in place of the original muffler with both cats in place with either a turndown or exiting out in front of the rear tire?

sorry lol
It'll be quiet. Not worth it man. There's a vid on YouTube of the exact set up you're talking about. I've also done it myself. Just cut your muffler off and see how you like it.
300's are funny sounding beasts with cats. They can sound like a Rice Burner with a Flowmaster, but sound like a beast with the same Flowmaster, just minus the cats..?
Anyway, 300's sound horrible with glasspacks. Here's my youtube, check my 300 out. I have a lot of sound clips. YouTube - 300 I6 Short drive and Rev.
Where do you have your tailpipes exiting on your trucks? I want to straight pipe my truck but don't want to go back to have an uncomfortable truck to ride in.
I have no tailpipes. It's just chopped off and left how it is.
How do you stand it in the cab? How do you pass inspection?
I don't drive any either of my trucks for more than five minutes at a time so the sound doesn't really get to me. Plus I like loud. We don't have inspections where I come from.
6cylbill i love the sound of your truck, where do u live?
i wanna take off the second cat but in pa we got real strict emissions and idk if it would pass
i like the sound of your first system exiting in front of the rear tire, and being 20 years old i looove loud trucks, hell i got a 1400 watt peak 12 inch sub being powered by a 1500 watt peak mono amp behind my seat
looks like imma haveto get some cash together to do the exhaust right lol
Kaster, don't know what engine you have but on a 302 you'd want to run 3" piping. You'll get a much better exhaust note over the stock piping. At the least, get 3" piping from the last cat back to the muffler. You'll hear the difference.
