Shifter not on the mark.....

Hey guys,I was out tire shopping this AM,I got in my truck and was getting ready to leave from the first tire stop, when I put the selector in the "D" position it would go,come to find out,the selector is off("D" is at the "2" and so on). Now,is this a simple matter of a bolt or something loose at the linkage or something more serious?
Thx guys....Phil

You can adjust the cable under the truck undo the yellow clip and poistion the cable where it needs to be, then reclip to keep in place.

Adjustment for the indicator is on the column.
The indicator is spring loaded.
Also sometimes the mount gets loose.

What he said. If you poke around under the dash on the right hand side of the column, you'll find the little wheel that allows you to adjust the indicator. It will take you longer to find it than to adjust it.
