UPDATE- i went to jump across selnoid, and hear this aweful whizzing sound when it starts. the darn starter gear was fully engaged, and stuck there. so i took it to the auto parts, it was bad, so i got a new one. then i came back and installed the new one, still nothing. no click, no nothing. so i put the original selnoid on it, and still nothing. but, it will start and run fine if i jump it across! possible ignition problem?
dad was on the phone with a local mechanic who has never worked on a diesel----only hotrods. he mentioned the problem, and the guy mentioned safety switches/relays. he began to think, and said since its been setting on a trailer and hauled around alot rocking back and forth, to try pulling it in neutral and back in park then starting. it fired no prob. the park sensor was just messed up i guess. something so simple after all.
ok, just re-read your fire post and this topic as well, how bad was the fire?
and what was popping fuse 22? did you end up unplugging the fuel bowl?
what wiring got damaged from the fire?
i unplugged the fuel bowl. the fuse stopped popping after unplugging it. it has been messed up for a while.
the fire damaged no wiring, it was confined to the exhaust pipe, and quickly put out thanks to dear old dad. still kinda mad at him over that haha. nothing in the area seems to be harmed.
as for the starter, the gear on it wound up sticking all the way forward. so, thats why i had to put a starter on it.
all in all, i think i just had a bunch of problems compund to make one big disaster.
