I'm trying to put a 99 7.3 in my 94 f350 inplace of my junk IDI 7.3 And I was wondering if I take all the harnesses and computors off the 99 will the harnesses for the 4r100 hook to my E4OD and will the trans modual for the 4R100 work with the E4OD?
Or would i be able to get a tach signal from the 99s ECMthat would work with my E4ODs computor? Does any one know where the speedo signal comes from on the 99? is it like the OBS trucks where it comes from the VSS to the dash wich modifys it for tire size and then to the trans?
I know this is the 94.5-97 powerstroke forum but I've asked trans questions in here befor and you guys seem to know alot about thees thransmitions.
it will not work without alot of extra time and money sunk in. the pcm and harness is needed as you stated but without the other pcm inputs from the 7.3 powerstroke motor i dont think it will work properly
oh wow, i read that totally wrong, i thougth you were putting the 4r100 in the 94....lol.
you would need the trans codes for the e40d. the 4r100 has extra sensors on it and the pigtails are different on the ones that are used. i'm not sure if any sensors from inside the truck are needed or not such as the cluster....
I think my best bet will be to figure out what signal for rpm is given from the powerstroke computor and feed that to the Trans modual and run the speed sensor to the 99 stuff then to the E4OD comp this is guna have me even more confused than I normally am.
Why not just get the 4R100 if you are already getting the pcm/idm etc. etc..... It just seems to me you would only be short the trans. and i would think a bts would fit real nice and plus i think since your goin into a pretty serious project then go big or go home. Just my two cents.

Its not that simple.
Completely different animals!
Even over the course of the 7.3 PSD run there was many changes. (control wise)
And not just to the trans.
Both 4x4, 2x4?
Early/Late 99?
Quickest conversion would be with a stand alone control.
Use Baumann or pcs.
If you are looking to use all oem you have more to deal with.
It can be done just more work and picking the right parts.
BTW----I would not be using the flywheel and TC from
the old truck.
The doner doesn't have a trans in it my buddy pulled it to get one of his better looking wreckers on the road. As for using a bds trans or a Baumann controller thouse cost money wich I don't have. I can have the engine wiring moduals inter cooler and so on for free. But i don"t think that will hapen since I some how need to get it running by the end of the month since they won't let me store my truck there any more.
