on my 87, cab-1/2 dulley 6x4.
there is no power to thebattery post,
but with the key-on it gets power to both the smaller post,
but still no power to battery post or to the z post
all the new beru's are good
when i checked the wire conecter by the passenger wheel well, it looked good ,but i spliced the power wires any way
but i ran a seperate wire from, starter selnoid ,to gp selnoid battery post that put power to the zpost but then it wouldn't shut off
i'm selling this truck, & would like to fix it before i sell it to someone else
its a great truck and i just don't want, someone pass on it, because i didn't fix it
for the post on the glow plug relay that should be getting a constant 12V battery voltage, there should be 2 fusable links coming off of the starter relay on the fender. sounds like those are bad.
i'm going out there now, was out earlyer i just cant figuer out way there is power to the two small post, if the key is not on?
they shouldn't have power --should they
well have been out there for hours , rewireing a lot of stuff, looks much neeter now,
got the gps to work on amaual push button, truck fires right up'in fact it starts better than my crew cab 7.3
but now when i turn the key-off it still is running, had to turn it off , by removing the wire off the ip------
The FSS (Fuel Shut-off Solenoid) on the IP, at least on the later models, is connected to the small ignition post on the glow plug relay. That post gets its power from the ignition switch, and should be hot when the key is at run or start. If you have power there all the time, that's the problem...
ya, thats it-power constant to the red wire at small post
so when i took apart the large gray conecter i spliced the yellow bigger wires , but i left thr rest alone
which wire is the key-on key-off
Again, on the later models, it's a R/LG wire coming from fuse K in the power distribution box, which gets its power from the ignition switch.
That's on both my '93 & my '94. I don't know if it's the same on your '87.
I'd try to trace where the power is coming from on yours...
Good luck!
so i took off the red wire from the small post on the gp selnoid, and attached a test light to the loop-light on getting constant power, follow it back to connector plug, all looks good take apart light goes off, clean, put back together, follow wire to starter selnoid , disconect, wire light goes off,
ok -so heres my questions
is that red wire supposed to have constant power? ( truck won't turn off)
does the conroler under the gp selnoid send power to the ignition key?
there is no power to the key
