this weekend was both productive and frustrating all at once...finaly got the garage cleaned out so i can start on the rear frame rails...got everything all tacked in just waiting for my budy to drop of his big welder so i can burn everything in.... ive never done anything this extensive befor, but ive got some friends who build chassis and ive done alot of research up till now..so i went with a basic straight frame with an up over the axle brige... next is 4 link and bags and plumb the lines wire the truck body work....well ive got alot to do !!!
heres the rails... the s10 frame will be cut right behind the cab of the truck and the longer portion of the rails will slide inside the s10 frame and get welded in making a fully boxed frame...
heres a good pic of the s10 frame...just about were the trans output shaft is is were the new rails will start....
ill get more pics as things go along....thanx for the suport!!!
I'm thinking that you may want to weld maybe 3 or 4 equal length temporary supports across (from one side to the other side) so that warping does not ocurr during welding. thoughts?
yea ferg. im going to just havnt gotten there yet...ill do that and when i put it in the truck ill do it again with the final cross members...and THEPITSHOP when the rails are on the ground there is just enough room for the bags between the axle and the cross bars that will be welded in ... so when its air'd out it will be on the fenders just the way Ol' Henry whould have wanted it !!!!
