hey guys I've own my truck for about 6 years now it an 87 f-150 with 5.0 v-8 i installed a reman motor in it about 2 years ago took about a year in ym free time. but anyway i was using a scan tool and did a koer test and it came up with knock sensor not deteced. i looked it up and i see where on the intake manifold where the sensor is suppose to be screwed in but noone carrys one and i can't find a plug in for the sensor. i dont remenber there ever beeing on there.




is this motor suppose to have a knock sensor?

 

as far as I can tell most motors have a knock sensor... at least I'm pretty sure they do

 

thats what i figure but i can not find the plug in for it but i can see the hole it screws into which has a alot of dirt in it. plus none of the auto parts store around here carry one for it

 

Check the schematic for the engine sensors and see if it shows a knock sensor for that year.

 

An 87 5.0 does use a knock sensor. It is mounted in the very rear of the block behind the intake manifold, above the bell housing.
