My truck started acting up about 2 weeks ago the truck started to have an eratic idle. I removed the ICP sensor plug and she ran fine. Well I have replaced the ICP sensor and rebulit the IPR and I'm still spitting out code P1280. What is the next thing I sould try in order to correct my stumbling bumbling truck with the ICP sensor hooked up. When its disconnected she runs fine except for the check engine light.
The truck is a 2000 F250 with an automatic. I have the edge evolution set to tow and 6637 air filter.

Measure voltage on the connector between pin B and the battery ground looking for 4.5 - 5.5 volts. Measure voltage between pin A & pin B looking for 4.5 - 5.5 volts. If you're readings are not in spec, you need to find a short in the harness. If those look good, it's time to check resistance between pin C & test pin 87 on the PCM, pin B & test pin 90, and pin A & test pin 91 looking for less than 5 ohms.
The voltages all look good. Where on the PCM do I check the resistance?

Also measure resistance between PCM test pin 87 and PCM test pins 25, 51, 77, 91 and 103 looking for a resistance of more than 10,000 ohms. If resistance is lower here, repair short to ground in signal wire circuit 812 (DB/LG).
If the resistance is off on the earlier ohm test, you've got a short in that wire between the ICP & PCM connector.

Well pins 90 and 91 are less than 5 ohms. Pin 87 has no deflection on the meter, so I guess that is where my problem lies, some where in that wire?

Yes, it looks like that wire has chaffed or has a loose connection somewhere causing a short to ground. Did you try ohming pin C on the connector to test pin 87 to see if it indicated a short? Since those other pins are all grounds, have you tried ohming pin 87 against a good ground just to be on the safe side?

Ok I got a better pair of leads and checked pin 87, 90 & 91 from both the PCM plug to the ICP plug and the PCM to the 42 pin plug and the 42 pin plug to the ICP plug. All resistance readings are below 5 Ohms.
I'm not sure where to go from here. I really don't want to take it into the dealership if I can figure it out with your help.

You might consider getting a pigtail for the ICP sensor. Also, try to wiggle the wires when it is running ruff and see if you can get it to smooth out.

Wiggling the wires is a good idea. You can also wiggle them while checking with the multi-meter to see if you notice any spikes or drops. Have you tried setting the truck back to stock to rule out the edge?
Went back to stock program and no codes. When I shut the truck off and turn it back on the code pops back up. If I go to clear codes the truck will surge up one time to about 1000 RPM and then back to idle. When I do that the program will say no codes. So is this a problem with the PCM?

I installed a new plug to the ICP and no joy! The code still comes up and when I clear the code the RPM will jump up to 1000 then back down to a normal idle, but when I restart the truck the code pops back up. I guess my next step will be to take into the dealer unless someone can come up with something else for me to try.

Did you try this? If these readings are off, then it's either the short mentioned above, or a bad ICP.
will the cps knock out the icp? voltage wise i have 2200 psi crankin but only .26 volts, cps gives me a "no fault" died n wont restart ran fine then when i went to stop she died havent tested the icp with volt meter or the cps i have a spare just havent had time to swap it yet i got a hay stack of codes
