just died on me???

I took the truck on the longest trip since I put the motor back in. I drove it app. 50 miles to a auction no problem. Stop and ate and notice some white smoke coming out when I pulled out. When I got app. 20 miles from home the truck quit like I turned the key off. Had to get it towed home. Any thoughts?

My first guess based on what you said is fuel system issue, plugged line, bad pump, something.

ICP might have gone South - always worth a try to unplug it and see if it will start.

Your situation is why I want a code reader (hopefully a DashDaq after tax refunds). Can you get the vehicle read for codes? If so, post them.

Hopefully it is something fairly cheap like plugged fuel filters or even the ICP - and not the FICM. Please keep us informed.

Well went out to where the truck was cracked the fuel supply line loose turn the key on and had lots of fuel pressure. then I unkooked the ICP sensor and still nothing. I notice the oil pressure guage takes a little longer to move than it did before just cranking it over.

Next thing you might try is to look for wire chaffing.

Either you lost FICMSYNC, which is input signal from the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft sensors, or more likely you lost ICP pressure.

If the issue is FICMSYNC, there could be several reasons. Failed cam sensor or wiring, failed crank sensor or wiring, failed FICM module, or crankshaft or camshaft endplay issues causing the trigger wheels to move out of position and away from the sensor.

More likely you have an ICP pressure issue. On an '03 model, the check ball may have fallen out of the bottom of the high pressure pump. This is fairly common and also causes low base oil pressure as the low pressure oil pump in unable to supply sufficient volume because of the large leak caused by the missing check ball in the HP pump, or an o-ring has failed somewhere.

I sure hope not I just replaced the HPOP and o-rings when I had the motor out.

I don't remember the codes. It got harder and harder to start until one day it wouldn't start. It would crank and try to fire, but seemed like it was starved for fuel.
