The front end jerks from left to right and you can take your hands off the steering wheel and see the wheel going right, left, right, left, etc. Sometimes it is worse than others and seems be get better when it warms up. It is impossible to control and looks like you might be drunk going down the road.
I searched posts for hours with no answers so it would be appreciated if someone knows what causes it. I did see a couple posts with the same problem but they had no answers.
There is something physically pushing the wheel left and right about once every second.
It's not the U-joints either because they are both spinning freely by hand and it is in 2 wheel drive. This problem comes and goes, sometimes it acts normal and sometimes the wheel almost violently jerks back and forth. It is usually worse when it is cold.
did you ever find the answer? reading through post it did not look like it!
I have the same problem, its forced left and right like the valve in the power steering it not working.
it literally flips to the right and any slight movement to the left pushes it that way. I have to stop right away and a turn it left and right and it goes away.
it happens when you turn left with some power and it goes crazy. it has to be some sort of directional valve
it's not anything to do with the rest tires or u-joint or any of the rest of what was mentioned. mine it pretty new. this issue just started some time after all the parts
any ideas?

I just went through it, sounds like what's going on with mine. I did cycle new fluid through it and it really did not make a difference. My first thought was the steering box and then the pump. so thanks for the reply, i will be changing out the pump (its cheaper) and much easier than the box.
thanks again
