Smile Scan Gauge 11- Any good?

Does anyone have hands on knowledge of the Scan gauge 2? It sounds like a good item if it really is as good as the advertisement. My truck, 2001 F-250, 4 wheel, auto V-10.

How much monitoring capabilities are you wanting? If your wanting the generic OBD-II stuff monitored then I believe the ScanGauge would suite your needs, if your wanting a lot of stuff, I would go with the DashDAQ with the Ford Enhancement License. The only thing that would be better then that would be the AutoEnginuity program(laptop or PDA based) with the Ford License.

What are your intentions for it? Basic monitoring or intensive monitoring?

I thought it would be like the factory computer readouts on later models. I am adding trans temp, oil pressure and water temp gauges separately.

With the dashdaq you won't need to do tranny temp seperate, it already picks that up and the difference between the two is negligible(I have both in my truck, long story as to why). Water temp is also monitored with the DashDAQ and it's spot on between the two gauges. You can monitor oil pressure, but you have to have a probe for that one. No biggie, they have them. If you want other things, like EGTs, you'll have to get a hub that goes under the hood, plug in the EGT and oil pressure in there and then you plug one wire that has both feeds in it back to the DashDAQ(think of it as a 4 port USB hub for computers).

You are correct in that regard of it being like a factory readout, so is the DashDAQ just with more(a lot more) capabilities then that.

I looked up the DashDaq website. It is really neat and does a lot of things as you said. I would love to have one but at this time finances won't allow it as I am making other changes to the truck and I already have the other gauges I said I was going to install. It will be on my list of things to buy later. Thanks for the information. stan

Oh I didn't realize you already had the other gauges, I thought you were just going to add them seperately and hadn't got them already.

I can understand about finances, it's going around these days. Have fun with the ScanGauge, I'm sure it'll serve you well since you already have the other gauges.

I recently added the scangauge 2 with blend mount, I did have a problem with the original unit, but they advance shipped me a new unit and now all is well. By the way it will do trans temp.
