In need of a bed and help

I have an 83 F150 that needs to be painted, but before I can paint it, I need to get another bed or fix the one I got. The only problems with the thing is the fender wells are rusted through and the back of the bottom of the bed is rusted through. I can't decide what to do. I'm hoping I can fix it, because I do have limited funds. Any advice will be appreciated.

In need of a bed and help

Hey,
I have the exct same problem. I jsut bought an '84 F-150 and the rear wheel wells are rusted, passenger side all the way through. I can feel rust cracking under the bed liner too, afraid too pull up it because of what i might see under there... Since I'm only 16, and purchased the truck, gas, insurance etc.. myself, I dont have a whole lot of cash to throw at this problem. If you find an answer or anything, could you give me a holler? e-mail is wrcguy02(No Email Addresses In Posts!) . Thanks.
Eric

Hi
I have a 84 f150 and it had the same problem, u can buy indevidual body panels and being im only 18 working part time, and when i decided to have the truck restored, the best advice is to get a box from a 87-96 truck because its all galvinized steel witch doesnt rust as easly the only down side is the fender walls ares slitly differnt but its hardly noticable, replacement panels tend to rust faster that the original body parts, NEVER BUY FROM LMC CATOLOG ITS ALL JUNK. if u have any othe questions about ur 80-86 truck email me at rccarufel(No Email Addresses In Posts!) ive done pretty much everything there is to do on a ford truck.

The only thing about the 87 and up beds is that the wheel wells are perfectly round and lack the contour that the 80-86 trucks had around the wheel wells. The 86 and earlier trucks had kind of a flat spot at the top of the wheel wells. Other than that the beds body lines that runs down the side is the same and they bolt right up. I just like to keep things correct, well sometimes.

People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
