i've got rust on my 94 F350 4x4 in the usual spots our trucks rust out in, but only on the bed. all the rust is in the top of both wheel wells and at the corners on both sides of the bed at the rear. the rust is through the metal and to fix it would require somebody (not me) to cut the metal out and replace with new metal panels and then paint. so my question is do you think it's easier/cheaper to have all the work done or to find a bed somewhere that is in better shape and have it painted to match the rest of my truck? the truck color is white. or is all the work even worth it for this old of a truck?
Being a 94, probably cheaper to find a new bed. Should be able to find one for a pretty decent price. After fixing the rust on your old bed, you'd still have to paint the bed anyway, so that price will be a wash. Alot of labor when it comes to cutting welding and repairing.
You could get some estimates so you know and then look for a new bed and then compare.
