Body/cab mount replacement questions................
I have my '77 F150 down to the frame. When we removed the mounts at the very front of the truck, one had to sawz-alled to get it off. From the looks of the factory mounts, they seem to be pressed together(top section-bottom section). I figured I'd go ahead and replace them all with poly. How do you replace the rubber with polyurethane? Are the poly replacements one solid piece? If so, how do you get them in/on the existing mounts? What about replacing the entire mount, do replacements have that same "pressed together" deal about them? Where can I get replacement mounts? I don't see them in J.C. Whitney's catalog and have yet to recieve my LMC catalog that I ordered several weeks ago.
Body/cab mount replacement questions................
the body mounts are not pressed together, the interlock thru the frame. I replaced all of the mounts on my '77. replacing them alone made the biggest difference in handling and ride of everything I had done and that includes everything. The original mounts used retaining washers that pass thru the rubber.one from the top and one from the bottom sliding into eachother.over time and as the rubber starts to rot these sleeves start to mushroom. On my rig I had to cut every single one.I ordered urethanes from auto krafters (www.autokrafters.com)@ $65. do yourself a favor and get the whole kit, mounts, bolts, nuts and washers. Its only @ $30 more and is well worth it. I wish I would have.
