Question D Max Stomping??

So my buddies dad always rags on me because hes a GM guy and i drive a ford. So now he has a 2008 2500 cc d max and thinks he will womp me in stock form. I have stage 1's tw tunes 17* hpop intake exhaust trans and 4.10 gearing. What do you guys think will happen. He is talking so confident that its making me think and i dont know what will happen. I would really hate to get spanked after talking crap back and let alone its a stock GM.

Sorry Cody, but after driving a lot of Duramaxes.......especially the LMMs like this guy is talking about.....he doesn't stand a chance, stage 1's and TW tunes considered. He will be eaten for lunch, chewed up, and spit you out before he can say "WTF just happened?!?!?"

sounds like a typical chevy guy...... my stock truck with 330 horsepower and 650 lbs of torque will outrun your 15 year old ford with 225 hp and 425 lbs of torque. its not really an apples to apples comparison. but i agree with cleatus. he will eat your lunch. badly.

I would say go on and race him, the new d-max's are pretty quick. But you never know until you line up. I have beaten a few d-max's around here.

you also have quite a bit more done to your truck than the OP. i would race him anyways, because theres no shame in getting beat. but when he loses i *know* the chevy guy is going to give him hell about how a stock chevy smoked his built ford, thats why he drives a chevy, fords are crap, etc. its *never* a fair race between a ford and a chevy unless you let the chevy have a bigger engine, more hp, a 3 car head start, etc. every time, and i mean every time, i go to the drag strip i almost get in a fight with a guy in a chevy because he runs his mouth before we race and then accuses me of cheating after i beat him because my mustang has a 351 in it and its supposed to have a 302. they say its not fair that i have a bigger engine than them when they are running a 350. but yet its fair to run a 350 against a 302..... and even if he beats the guy, hes going to say, well you should have beat me, my truck is stock and yours is built.

I agree it never ends with the Chevy guys and excuses, The guy has a brand new truck going against a truck that is 10+ years old. Theres no shame in losing to him, but like i had said you should do it anyway and if you beat him it makes it that much better.

one of my mustangs is various colors of black, gray, primer and rust. i built it to go fast, not look good. i got lined up beside a guy with a brand new z06 corvette one time. a few of his buddies were there with him and they were laughing at my car, making fun of what he was having to run against, bragging about how he had an 80k dollar car and was going to smoke that POS mustang, etc. after i smoked him i pulled back in beside of him and asked him how he liked that POS mustang now lol. he accused me of cheating because my engine wasnt stock and that it wasnt a fair race. and its something like that every time you race a chevy guy. im with you though, if it was me, i would run anything that lined up next to me. if you lose, you lose, no big deal. i just dont think he will win, and that he should be prepared to catch hell afterwards.

Fight the good fight! Down with the nay sayers. I look at it like this, if you have to ask a forum if you should race someone, you probably really don't want to, or are too worried about losing and looking bad. In which case, why even mod a truck. While I will agree, the new chevys are quick, but who gives a crap. No shame in trying. And if you win, shut him up. There are waaaaaaaay too many variables for anyone to say yes you win, or no you lose. Maybe the chevy guy drives like a 3rd grader, maybe you do. Who knows. Just get out there and give it a go, use your mods, and enjoy the moment. Either way, you'll have more to talk about when it's over. GO HAVE FUN!!!

You could remind him that if he loses he is gonna look really silly with 48 months left in his payment book. Any time OLD MAN... Just think, you don't have anything to lose and he stands nothing to gain. A 2008 is supposed to outrun a 97.

You could run him in the rain. Just quietly switch to 4wd and leave him off the line. Get a commanding lead, light up the brake lights and tell him to run you when it isn't such a waste of your time. You could dust him without exceeding 35 mph... Heck he wasn't even close enough to risk breaking the law.

I saw a guy whip his buddy twice this way. Then they switched trucks and he beat the other fella with his own truck. Never told him how he did it.

4wd no matter what! Race him. I agree with everything Cody said. If you lose just remind him that your truck is a decade older and you don't have that $400 a month payment every month.......Not to mention your truck has seen less repairs its whole life than his Maxi-pad will see in the next year.....
