Personally I think you would be wasting your money. The I-beam suspension on you truck is a built in sway bar. Just keep good radius arm bushings, king pins, and tie rod ends in the front end and nothing else is needed. If it were an independent suspension like a Chevy then a sway bar would help.
did you have one on the front? i've heard that installing a sway bar on the rear of a vehicle that doesnt have one on the front causes unusual handling anomolies
From what wb6vvv says I don't think it would matter if you didn't have one on the front if the I-beam acts as a sway bar, so putting on one on the rear shouldn't hurt it.
I put one on the rear when I had the Dana 60 in it to haul a camper around. It helped quite a bit especially in heavy winds. I had to remove it when I put the sterling in. The darn rear end is so big that the thing wouldn't fit. I am going to clean it up one of these days, put some paint on it and put it in the classifieds. If you are going to haul arond a camper I would say it's a plus. If you are just using the truck as a daily driver I wouldn't waste the money. I think mine was around two hundred bucks when I put it on.
I have a 1979 Ford 2wd f250 Lariat Camper Special that came with a front and rear sway bar and it handles curves and corners it seems as well as my 2003 Mercury Marauder. I have driven 67-72 and 73-79 2wd f250s with no sway bars and compared to my 79, it's a big difference so I fully recomend sway bars. My truck does not have a camper on it either.
are there any other trucks or cars that the sway bar could be fitted to these trucks? been thinkin about gettin one, but only if i could find a junkyard one
Actually, I pulled the sway bars off of a 76 F250 to put on my 73 F100. They were a direct bolt on and work great. My truck doesn't handle like a sports car, but it's real close.
