If I am not mistaken, the 1980 - 1983 fog lights were made by Marchal and mounted underneath the bumper, like in the brochure picture from 81-F-150-Explorer. As you can see, these fog lights had a metal "bar" that surrounds and protects the lights and came with white Marchal headlight covers.
The 1984 - 1986 fog lights mounted on top of the bumper. I think these were made by Ford. These look a little more like aftermarket lights, and came with a black fog light cover and no metal "bar."
The earlier Marchal lights are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find. Believe it or not, I found and bought a NOS (New Old Stock) set of these about 2 months ago on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AIID&viewitem=
The kit came with 2 fog lights, 2 metal "bar" surrounds, 2 white Marchal covers, complete wire harness, and even a matching interior switch bezel.
The grille guard that I modified for my 84 F-150...the one that has FORD embossed on the bar....had a flat piece with holes drilled in it for fog lights and the wiring...it is OEM...j
