They were a dealer installed option and there is a special instrument cluster bezel and switch that is nearly impossible to find.
Over the last three years of scouring the salvage yards I have only seen one. Some idiot smashed the bezel and switch to pieces trying to get something else out.

Oh, Do you know if anyone sells them?
What do they even look like? I've never seen them.
It's a shame that someone broke the bezel and switch.
The 1984-1986 Have a different part number according to the parts book, but have no info other than that. Could just be an Updated part number.
Those have to be the most ugliest fog lights i've ever seen.I'm sorry, but that
just doesn't seem right on there.I can see why they're so rare. And in that pic,the flareside looks to be 4x4,so I don't see why they're mounted so slow. One slight incline will knock them out real quick. You'd have to be extra careful with those.

Well they did come with the factory Fog Lap bumper Guards that surround the lamp itself.
The reason why they are mounted so low is because that is the best way to light up the road in the fog. So the placement for that reason is sound. But for the other reason you mention, is why when you do find a set they are messed up.

Well you would think that ford would put them on top of the bumper, and then angle them accordingly so they can provide the best lighting on the road during the fog.Especially on a 4x4 model.I can see them being there on a 4x2,but not 4x4.That's just my opinion though. And in terms of looks,I like fog lights better on top of the bumper,or even mounted on a brush guard.
