Fog light upgrade

I just picked up my 2013 F150 FX4 with HIDs. I need to replace the fog lamps because they are dull as compared to the HIDs. Anybody upgraded their fog lights if so what did you use to get them close to the color of the HIDs?

I used HIDs. Bulb is a 9140/9145. You can try over and over to get the HID look with a regular halogen but it just wont happen. To get close to the stock hid headlights go with a 6k for the foglights. I run 10k in mine and 8k in my headlights.

I have the same problem with my 2013 lariat. I Was thinking of trying the silver stars in the fog lights.

04XLTRUNNER , you are right. I put some Silver Star 9145 in and they are better but still off a little. I am going to put them in my Expy and try to find some HID fog conversions.

Where can I find them?

You can get them about anywhere online. I get them at a local stereo shop. The bulb is 9140/9145.

Here is a Kelvin chart that will show you what range to be in, usually it is best for the brightest white light to be in the 6000k range. The closer you get to 8,000k the bluer the light will be. You also have to take into consideration the higher you go in the range...you might get ticketed for your lense color.

So from what I gather Ford's HIDs are about 6000K. I will look for a Xenon bulb somewhere 5000 to 6000K.

They shouldn't blind you when properly aimed and mounted in a proper housing.
