vacuum question on carb hookup

question on vacuum tubes I have a 73 is there a map of the vacuum system anywhere?

My question is shouldn't this choke be attached to the tree? It hasn't been for years dont know why people would pull it but I want to fix it back up now that I own it. Also should I run a line from the vacuum tree to the carb intake (essentially a open vacuum line to the inside of the air filter)

its a 390 with a 2100 2v

That is the choke stove pipe, it goes to a heat source, which the vacuum drawns heated air thru, which heats the choke cap and spring and opens the choke.

Does your truck still have the manifolds or headers?

What Steve McQueen said.

The plate should be slightly forward of the carburetor. It looks like two 3/16 brake lines poking out.

cool thanks, is this pipe something I can recreate or make out of copper? I cant find it in LMC and the other end was squished so I would need to re-flange it anyway, which likely makes it too short. I have also read that rubber high-temp pipe works.

Yes.

This is how I furnished my own homemade choke stove pipe. I used copper tubing for HVAC.

Yes, like was posted above and very nicely done, or a universal kit in the HELP! section available at any parts store like Checker or Advance.

awesome I get it now, whats the block on there is that a factory part I dont think I have?

I guess anything that would transfer heat from the intake into the convection of the stove pipe would work.

also further reference https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...tube-work.html

what would the Help! part be called?

That's the plate. Did you look for it on the manifold?

Your truck may not have it originally. Not all trucks had the same choke setup.

Here. Note the tubes - oftentimes, the upper one is missing.
