Howdy,
I have a 2001 Ford expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L 2WD. i have 215K miles on the truck and minus a few dings, scratches, and bugs she runs great. BUT, when standing behind my truck, you can see that the truck is sitting lower on the left side than on the right side. I want to say that it is a few inches of difference. I am primarily the only one in the truck so i understand that the left gets more abuse than the right due to weight not being on the right side when hitting bumps. Here is the question: Does anyone have a clue as to where i should look first for the cause of the lean? Shocks? Springs? Something Else? I dont want to go replacing anything that isnt broke. ANY ideas will help.
Vince, do you have air ride or springs? If it is springs, then it could be a weak spring or a bad shock. If it is air ride, check for a bad air bag(leaking) or there is an air leak such as a bad o-ring or line feed.
I have spring suspension. Now im wondering this makes sense to you. When i first noticed it, i showed it to my neighbor and he went into his garage and came out with these screw in spacers fo go into my springs, i put them in and the truck leveled out but within a few days its back to leaning again. i have not removed the spacers so im thinking that whatever it is got worse after i put the spacers in. what do you think?
I have a question....Are you standing on level ground when looking at the vehicle? I kid. I would look at the springs and check for cracks or an outright broken spring. Also look at the sway bar links make sure everything is connected and no broken bolts. Do the expies with spring suspension come with the front torsion bars? I know my 97 with air suspension did and I had to adjust them when I converted to springs. If it does take a look at them to make sure one is not broken or bent or needs adjustment.
