I did the side by side comparison yesterday when I got it out, and the old bearing w/metal ring is the same length as the new bearing. What puzzles me now is that piece of melted looking nylon/plastic that was in the bellhousing the first time I took it apart. No clue what it was now. Anyways fixin to get it back together and see. I really should write a book about this, or a movie script!
main reason is the spring behind the release bearing, but it's gotta be there..heh..
Its back together, just need more bleeding, but it will finally go into gear and will try to jump when engaging the clutch....ran out of brake fluid till tomorrow and hope it'll be on the road. First time I been happy to hear some gears grind!!
Good man. Great news. When you get the brake fluid top it up and pump the pedal quite a few times and see if you can get it to self bleed.
Good luck with the truck and with job hunting.
Thanks, for everything. My brother's fixin to try the same thing on a F-250 I think, a friend of his and the slave drive went out on it in our driveway. I'm starting to think poltergeist for real!! Fixin to go get the fluid and tonite go to my baby brothers and celebrate!
