Also, it has these junky-looking Mustang seats and some old Falcon console in it. It is a custom cab with all the trim, but for some reason, it doesn't have twin I Beams becuase it's emblems say "Ranger" instead. I thought Rangers were a little pickup in the 1980s.
OK, I'm pretending to be naive. Is there any way to tell if it is a factory Ranger from the VIN plate. It has the seats, seat brackets and console. Nothing covering the tank though. What do the tank coverings look like? Ranger emblems on the fenders are present.
55 is the DSO...St Louis...where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from..the other 4 digits are the trucks unique order number...it was a special order The Buckets are correct as is the console for a Ranger truck which was offered in 1965 and 66...3 colors available..black, red and parchment...BUT the ONLY way a true Ranger can be decoded/authenticated is the door tag as they have a unique trim code for the bucket seats...F(red),G(black) or H(palomino) are the 65 trim codes for a Ranger
If the LH door appears to be original then its prolly someones copy of a Ranger...check the VIN on the passenger side frame rail on the top surface by the fender apron located about 12 inches in front of the engine crossmember. The letters are about 1/4" tall with astericks(*) on both ends of it...If it natches the door tag above that was decoded then its not a genuine ranger package truck...
For full package composition, look in my gallery under package compositions and you will find all of the parts of the various packages...Custom Cab, Ranger among them.

Reason: added info...again
In looking at the albums in your gallery, it looks like the cab with the buckets isnt off of the truck you have posted in the other gallery...the rust/primer spot on LH cowl isnt on cowl in pics of truck as a whole...is this another truck or a replacement cab ???
Also, on the Ranger trucks...they had carpeting(2 piece set) and originally had a gas tank cover though most are gone it seems.
Rangers are a very rare truck in any form...a definate keeper IMO...I had one...wish I had kept it, but money issues at the time forced my hand.

Instead of peering into dark spaces and sticking your hand into same...that may be infested with black widow spiders...
It's a heck of a lot easier to compare the VIN on the Warranty Plate with the VIN on the registration.
If they DO NOT match, the door has been changed.
bluestang65: 1965/66 Rangers used the same bucket seats as 1965/66 Mustangs.
The center console is from a 1964/65 Falcon Sprint, or Comet Caliente.
The Ranger front fender emblems were used exclusively on Rangers. The Twin-I-Beam fender emblems were not used on Rangers.

Where is the F, G or H code supposed to be? Under "body"? could the 6 digit special order signify the Ranger package? And is it supposed to be E81F, or F81?
Also, what is a D81 body code and a G transmission (on a '66 F100)?
I just picked up a 65 F100 with a 240 strait six and so far it looks like every gasket on the engine short of the head gasket is bad including the Intake and Exhaust gaskets. I gave all the bolts a bath in penetrating oil and hope that today I wont be busting any bolts off while removing the intake and exhaust manifolds.
