Just picked up a new 2008 F-250 Crew 4x4 Diesel and have a quick question. There seems to be a noticeable gear noise at low speed below 20mph. Is this normal? This is my first big truck and with it being 4wd I am not sure of the normal noises associated with it.
should not be any noise. You could just check the rear diff real quick and see if they forgot to add enough gear oil. What kind of tires are you running?
If it is the stock Conti's then I am sure that is not the noise. just checking.
Gears take a few miles to settle. If there is noise after 500 miles, then it's either a noisy gear set or you have a problem that should be addressed. Being a new truck, I'd have ford pull the cover and check the mesh.
Yeah, it has stock Conti's tires. I will take it in and have them take a look. My F150 had a slight gear noise, just wanted to check if it was normal before taking it in. Thanks
