Never say never Joe.
without a tweaked pump a turbo and a few other mods I would just go with stock injtores. I don't remember where but I saw new not rebuilt not long ago for 22 bucks and no core to mess with.

Check this. No core and good customer service. Got my pump and injectors from them.

FWIW, there was a guy that took His faulty DPS Inj's into a diesel shop. They disassembled them to see what makes them so special.

Ken grinds the pintel tips off. Otherwise they popped @ the same pressure as stock.

I'd guess a guy could do that on His own?

Quote From Reklund

"At this point, there really isn't an upgraded injector available for the IDI's. The set that I had from Ken at DPS just had the pintle's ground off and the tips drilled out to make a bigger passage for the fuel to flow through. The problem was, the precise size of the hole on the tip, and the pintle is what makes the fuel atomize and allows for a complete burn. The upgraded "Moose Pump" and a brand new set of Delphi injectors is where I'd start if I had it to do over again. I'm still a little iffy running a DPS pump in my truck, but so far it hasn't posed any problems. I can't tell you if DPS does anything special to the pump, but my truck seems to run pretty well, with the combo of the DPS pump and brand new Delphi Injectors.

Knowing what little I know about Mel or the Moose pump, I'd be WAY More confident in that product than just about anything else on the market. "

Hose debris can't get in the high pressure injection system. If you really have a bunch of crap in your lines, then it would get caught in the fuel filter. After the filter, all the lines to the injector pump and injectors are metal.
