Serpentine belt

My f-150 has 50,000 miles and winter is about obver in Illinois.

I am hearing more noise under the hood than I used to, sounds like maybe the serpentine belt, alternator or tensioner or something.

Any ideas how to attack ?

Your going to hav eto try and figure out if it is a pully or belt. A pully, with a bad bearing , may have a grinding, or matallic sound. A belt will have a quiet wrilling, or wrishing sound. I had the center idler pully go on my 04 F150, after I washed the motor, one time. Napa was the only one that sold the pully, other than the dealer.

if you gonna replace the belt go with goodyear gatorback. highly recommended belt for our trucks.

i second that statement...I've had mine for 10k now and its still as silent as can be!

Spray a liquid on the belt while it is running (water, soap mixture, etc) and if it is the belt, it will get quieter. I have the original belt on an Escape with 104,000+ miles on it and the Lincoln I gave my daughter with 128,000+ miles on it and they are still quiet.
