Remote Start 2005 6.0

I have a 2005 6.0PSD KingRanch and I would (I...as in the wife) like to add a remote start: is this feasible?
and if so how much would it be to have it installed?
Thanks

I install remote start with keyless entry on a diesel for 160, if you wanted an alarm or a pager it would be around 200. Most shops would charge about 500-600 for a full fledged alarm/remote start/ keyless, with pager.

I installed my viper smart start last month and love it. It allows you to control it from your cell phone so you never have to carry another key fob if you want. It is pricey though. $500 installed. It is not available for all phones yet however/

Sammy,

Can an older viper be upgraded to the phone control? I would love to do that or I guess I will be buying a new alarm. I see you have a 08 tailgate. Where did you find one? I would love to buy one. I have the 08 diff cover
and am having it polished right now.

Here's the alarms that work with their system:

  • Clifford: models 1.2, 1.3x, 20.7x, 2.2, 3.3x, 50.7x, 590.2x
  • Python: models 1401, 580, 1601, 872, 991, 592
  • By transmitter type: 1-way SuperCode (RS or Sec/RS), Responder LE (RS or Sec/RS), Responder LC3 (RS or Sec/RS), Responder HD
You must have one of these Directed Alarm systems already installed in your car. Some features may vary depending on the type of compatible Directed remote start/security system installed (with the DSM100 module), and the type of vehicle. For instance, the Alarm notification feature requires installation with a compatible Directed security/remote system. The trunk release feature requires that your vehicle have an electric trunk release system. We recommend that you talk to your installer about the specific requirements for your vehicle and choice of compatible Directed Alarm system.

I think it's worth it. I had a the remote start from the ford dealer installed when I bought it this summer. The smart start was worth the cost of taking off the dealer starter.

Thanks for the information. I will see what one I have. I know I have a 2 way transmitter now. I would say I have a python on my truck. I have had every kind of remote when I have to buy new ones . They all say RPN 479V/P/C on the back. I will have to see if I have the info on the alarm of just go have the stereo store change what they have to.
