No wonder they are going under. Last weekend I tried calling them to cancel my subscription as I was sick of the advertisements for XM on XM and I am perturbed that they are taking away the internet radio access. After being hung up on twice after being on hold for 15 minutes each I gave up. I am sitting on hold right now for 12 minutes before even talking to anybody. What a load of bunk. Nobody should have to sit on hold for more than 3 or 4 minutes when attempting to talk to customer service. I hope they go in the toilet.
They must be taking a page out of AOL's playbook - making it difficult for subscribers to quit.
I have DirecTV and a couple years ago they switched the music stations (great selection and variety, all talk free) to XM channels. They weren't bad until a few months ago when the XM and Sirius channels merged into the current junk they are now. I'm glad I never went out and bought equipment and subscription for the product.
If you are losing your XM online, try Pandora.com. It is pretty good and it is free. I have it running anytime I am on a computer.
Now the hard sell begins....MrCMK, what can we do to keep you? How about a free month or two?
Heh, I am on the phone with the cancellation guy right now. He asked why I want to cancel my account and I told him in no uncertain terms when I am pissed. He said that he was sorry and I told him "no you're not, cancel my account." 36 minutes and counting. I should send them a bill for my time.
they are trying to stall long enough to get you into the next billing cycle....
What is amazing is that the two satellite radio companies merged and may still go belly up.....I've had them in some rental cars and enjoyed some of the material on them (comedy, weather, kids stations) but never enough to want to pay for it. Now, when I am on the road I load up a thumb drive and throw it in the cigar lighter player and I'm good for hours.
Tell them you wan't Co-Presidency of the company, and a corner office. THEN, MAYBE, you will keep it in your truck. Also state though, that as Co-President, you recieve free XM anyway...

EDIT: Sorry Chris, I meant Mustang not truck
The XM is in my truck, the Mustang is sleeeeeepppppping. Stupid winter.
I've had XM for 3 years now and the post merger product isn't worth a crap. If I wanted Sirius I would have subscribed to it 3 years ago. Now it's commercials and DJ's running their mouth and less content. I'm pissed that G Gordon is no longer on and they screwed up the rest of 166 and some of the sports stuff. Don't know how much longer I'll hang on. I don't know if I can go cold turkey yet cause I certainly don't want to fall off the wagon.
Well I have been a Sirius subscriber for 4 years and the merger didn't bother me at all.
I am able to take my Sirius unit from my truck and put it on my Goldwing but the other day I forgot to take it with me and was forced to listen to "regular" radio.
I bet I won't forget that unit again!!!!!
XM used to be good in the beginning but they definitely lost it with their own ads. I canceled mine after a year, although I don't remember having that many problems canceling my subscription. Now canceling my Capital one card was a whole different story. 40min I was on the phone.
