HA! Try cancelling a Capitol One card that wasn't yours to begin with.....I think we only went through 5 different collection agencies.

Anyway, I liked XM's music channels better and Sirius's talk/entertainment channels, but I do way to much OTR travelling to cancel.

It's much easier than calling XM up and talking to them. Just call your bank instead and ask that they stop processing charge requests for XM radio.

I have Sirius and renewed for another 2 years before the price increase. I travel 1.5 hours to work and 1.5 hours back home 21 days out of the month, and couldnt imagine doing it listening to regular FM. I am a talk radio buff as well. It is about all I can stand listening to FM while driving our work trucks.

i have sirius. my friend has xm.
xm stinks, plain and simple. if you take the xm unit out of the vehicle, or disconnect the power for more than 3 minutes, you need to call them and have the setup signal resent to the unit.

with sirius, i can take the unit out and switch it to whatever vehicle i am driving at the time, and if i leave it in my pocket for 3-4 days, it still works when i hook it back up.
the only complaint i have with sirius is the friday you sing first, and sunday morning talk BS on the country station. if i want to hear a bunch of idiots yakking, i will open the window.

I sure am glad that I don't have satellite radio or AOL!

News/traffic/weather on my FM.

Or, one of these CDs playin'

Doobie Brothers Greatest Hits Vol. I and/or Vol. II
Steely Dan's Greatest Hits
Creedance Clearwater Revival's Greatest Hits
Chet Atkins
Andy McKee
Four Tops
Temptations
Dennis Yost & The Classics IV's Greatest Hits

I've got so much music around the house (and vehicles) I'm not about to pay for satellite stuff.

I have a friend that did that and they sent his account to a collection agency.

I had XM a few years ago. I used it to listen to the TRUCKER CHANNEL 171 and a few other channels(40's Big Band, Old Time Comedy) but let it go off. Now I'm listening to WLW700 out of Cincy for The American Trucking Network With Steve Sommers. Found out they WAS on 173,(WLW700) and found out last week Clear Chaanel owns 7 XM channels! They REALLY screwed up this set up! Took WLW700 off channel 173 COMPLETELY! They put A.T.N on 152, BUT!!!! They don't play the sponsor's ads AT ALL! They ought to just pull their ads money to teach Clear Channel a lesson! I listen to WLW700 on the AM band WITH ALL THAT STUPID STATIC! I'm not redoing a subscription now with all this screwed up mess! Sorry, I'm Ranting!!!!!

i have worked with 3 different roady units, and they were all that way.

and when i questioned the XM tech, he said they all do that, that is why you have to use their constant power feed and turn the head unit off, unlike the switchable feed power used by the Sirius units.

That only works if they have your social security number, and if you give that out to anyone who asks for it then you deserve what you get.

Andy touched on one alternative, but why use the phone at all? Don't they have a cancellation section on their website?

I don't know about a cancellation section on their website. I called Discover and talked to them about it. They said that they can't refuse a charge but after the fact I can dispute it. I think that the guy I talked to might be a doofus though...

I swap mine around frequently as well and have had no issues.

I think that is one of the reasons i am hesitant to cancel. If I fall off the wagon and try to get reactivated I'm not sure they would let me keep my old XM radio. I've heard they convert you to a newer, less powerful, Sirius unit. Not sure if it is true but currently a deterrent for me to quit.

I was riding down the road yesterday morning still pissed that they dropped Gordon Liddy. Yes, they screwed up the trucker channel and there were 2 dj's running their mouth on channel 10. Oh yeah, they are playing the Beach Boys on the 50's channel. What's that all about? I don't like the new product. Thanks for letting me vent.

The newer Sirius radios have the same power the old radio has, just more features. I think the Sirius / XM radio was good, and you will find that more will be offered in the future. ( One of my close friends works the satellites for Sirius.................)
