my only complaint is that you have to pay full price whether you listen to one station, or all 200.
as i told the sales idiot, i don't care about all the other channels in the 3 years the satalite radio has been in my trucks, it has never been changed from sirius channel 61.
then they tell me "don't forget to check out the new blah blah channel".
what part of i only listen to one country music channel don't you understand??

Yet for three years you have continued to be their customer and paid for those stations you don't use. You've made the decision to continue to use the service while some people (like me) won't get it because I don't want to pay for 200 channels when I would only use half a dozen. I think XM/Sirius counted on there being more folks like you than like me. That may or may not have worked out like they expected since they aren't doing all that well financially.
I think one reason they don't do ala carte pricing is the actual cost to deliver the service is high compared to the cost of the programming. Just a guess though.
But now you have me thinking.....I only participate/view four or five of the forums here - I wonder if IB would consider a lower price for not using the other 100 or so. I didn't think so....
well Ray, if the powers in the radio stations would realize there is a need for country music stations here in the New York region, i would dump sirius instantly.
clear channel entertainment bought out a bunch of the radio stations 4 -5 years ago, and the first thing they did was axe the country station.
the new format at that frequency has changed over 6 times so far, because we don't need another station playing mexican, rap, oldies, jazz, and easy listening music in random patterns.
Clear channel sucks. The big country station in the Twin Cities is a clear channel owned station. I swear it plays more commercials than music.
What's the matter with that?
1-2 songs and 8-10 minutes of commercials.
Plus hearing the same 10-20 songs all day long is really annoying, I hardly tune to that station anymore.
Never had and never will have XM/Sirius. Paying for radio isn't for me.
That's why I like Sirius soooo much better. They have the best stations, although some are crossed over, not including the "Best of" packages. My uncle has XM in his Dodge Ram, and it is good, but not as good as Sirius.
tjc transport, I also am a fan of country music and also have Sirius. Like you, my radios are always on Channel 61 -- Prime Country. Just a suggestion: Try listening to the new Willie Nelson Channel 64. You might be pleasantly surprised..................
The big carrot for me is that I travel several different states and a fair amount of rural area. I'm tried of always trying to track down a station and then find one only to be out of range before the song is over. That's the biggest benefit for me. #2 is the variety and #3 would be the lack of commercials. All that was worth $10 a month. Since the merger benefit 3 seems to have gone away and benefit 2 is not as good as it once was in spite of 2 systems now instead of 1.

nope. i had to listen to ******* place on xm for 6 hours one day. never again.
FM, XM, Sirius...what the heck is all that crap? Ain't they got enny AM stations in yer area? It works and it's free. Fer me anyways.
Satellite radio (XM and Sirius) are just nice little payments for a whole lot of channels that expand far beyond AM and FM combined. FM is free too, though. But what is nice is that satellite radio offers what most AM/FM radios don't and that they come with variety like an MP3 and the class of a radio.

I hear ya' there, bro. We have one "country" station in Boston that plays the same 12 songs over and over again. I usually put it on until the first commercial I hear then it's off to either the MP3 player plugged into the lighter (always plays songs I like, btw) or I turn on the CD player from which I chose Patriotic music by the Air Force Band or military marches. I never get sick of them.
I haven't heard anyone mention the FM2 (digital) radio stations. Does anyone have a digital receiver either at home or their vehicle?
I guess it is officially known as HD Radio. Some of the Boston channels have a second station that uses the same frequency but can only be heard with an HD receiver. The Boston country station has oldies for their second station. I have yet to meet anyone with a receiver so I have no idea how good it is.
Here's a Wiki article that is painfully boring after about the first three paragraphs.....
No wonder they are going under. Last weekend I tried calling them to cancel my subscription as I was sick of the advertisements for XM on XM and I am perturbed that they are taking away the internet radio access. After being hung up on twice after being on hold for 15 minutes each I gave up. I am sitting on hold right now for 12 minutes before even talking to anybody. What a load of bunk. Nobody should have to sit on hold for more than 3 or 4 minutes when attempting to talk to customer service. I hope they go in the toilet.
Haha, You and I called the same day (3-09-09) to cancel before there rates went up.
I experienced the exact same BAD service that you experienced.
I was disconnected 3 times, talked to 4 different people, and for some odd reason, they couldn't find my account number in their system. it took a total of 54 minutes to finally have my account cancelled.
I had one lady tell me that it would be best if I would call between 8am - 10am. after I already had been on hold for over 30 minutes. I told her that the best time is NOW. She put me on hold, then I got disconnected.
