I guess my first question should be is a 1992 F350 351 a fuel injected motor? If so what would be required to install the fuel injection on a 1986 351W.What type of FI system came on the 92's. Will the heads on the 86 motor work? This is something that may be avaliable to me fairly cheap and would be a neat setup in my 68 F100.Any info would be appreciated.
Martin

Yes.

Bolt on the intake, attach the EFI wiring harness to the computer, install the EFI distributor, and supply power where required. You'll also have to supply high pressure fuel to the rail and a return line.

It will be speed density multi point tuned port injection.
Conanski,Thanks for the info, More info on my engine- bored .40,bigger valves and a mild cam. Are Fords like GM in regards to higher lift cams. I can provide cam specs when I get home from work. Thanks for your input Martin
what are the specs on the cam? if the lob seperation is lower then 114* then the 92 efi wont like it.
go to www.fordfuelinjection.com this site has a reference to a site that sells MAF efi harness's cheap and would allow the efi to not freak out due to the cam you have in the motor.
Yep.. need cam specs, one mans "mild" is another mans "wild", and in this case the duration and valve overlap have to meet certain specs to be compatable.
Conanski, I finally got around to getting my cam specs. They are
int. exh
dur @ .050 214 224
valve lift .472 .496
lobe seperation 107 117
Let me know what you think about these #, Looks like it would work but might have to have the computer worked on. Martin
Thanks for the info,Im still mulling this over, not real sure that it would be that much of an improvement over what I have, other than it would look kool
Conanski, Those # came from the end of the box that the cam came in. Where would I find the grind # ? Im not sure of the brand of cam shaft since the mach. shop provided the cam,I gave him the specs. for a Voodoo cam and he matched them with another brand! There is another # on the box but I assumed that it was a part #, 4 digets & a letter. Thanks Martin
Just wondering if it was from a major brand, sounds like it's a Melling or something, if so the complete specs are often not available online. Do you know advertised or seat-seat duration?
If the cam manager in Desktop dyno is accurate and my assumption that this line "lobe seperation 107 117" is actually intake and exhaust centerlines, the cam LSA is actually 112 deg. That means it will run kinda rough on SD, a noticable idle if you like, but otherwise should produce good power. If you don't have to meet emissions tests it's certainly worth a try.
I think you are probably correct about the cam being a Melling, I could probably get more specific specs from my the shop that did the mach. work. Will see if he can provide more info and will post it for you. Thanks again for all the info,Martin
I spoke with Melling Tech and it is their cam,per the tech guy it might or might not work.I dont think it is worth possibly having to change cams to run FI.I've got a pretty nice setup as it is,thanks for all the input on this. If anyone is interested I can probably get my hands on this complete system, let me know.Martin
