Rear diff cover rusted through

Rear diff cover rusted through
I noticed today while bleeding my rear brakes(or trying too) that the rear diff cover looked wet. Took a closer look at it, and sure enough gear oil is present on the cover. It looks to have rusted through enough that the fluid is seeping through it. Looks like I'll be getting that '08 aluminum cover sooner than I thought. I love living in the RUST Belt.

Well its an excuse to get the alum cover but definitely not one you want sneaking up on ya! Glad you caught it!

Yep, same for myself, replaced with a stock cover. wished I would have waited for the aluminum cover.

Same regrets here Mark. Actually, we were leaving for vacation that day, so I stopped at a Ford dealer on the way up, bought a new cover, and changed it out in the parking lot

Yeah Steve, same rear diff from about 86-present. Either 10.25 or 10.5 Sterling.
