Those salty winter roads in CT are not friendly with the metal parts on your vehicle...

My truck has never seen salt and i am going to rip it off tomorrow and sand blast and paint before it develops pin holes. It is the only thing that is rusty under there except the drive shaft.

Order one for an 08-+ Superduty Diesel. About $60, and aluminum doesn't rust!

dito: plus they are finned and will cool faster and stay cooler. Just remember if you go this route you will need new longer bolts. The alum cover is a little thicker in the mounting area that the bolts go thru.

I also vote for the new ford diff. It's good for the price and wont rust. Hard to not go that way.

If you get it from dieselmanor.com, they send you new corrosion resistant hardware.

I have a 2001 250 and mine rusted through and I replaced with an aluminum finned cover - it looks great and has a larger oil capacity.

Ed left y2k and he's at Parr Ford now (ftepartsguy.com). I guess I have a guilty consciense now because I was not dissing him by recommending the other link (not that you're accusing me of anything), it's just that the other site provides a nice set of corrosion resistant bolts with hex heads in lieu of the OEM variety. Maybe Ed has a nice set of bolts like this now, too...
