They say pure silicone is the best way to protect tires. It actually conditions the rubber rather than just covering it. I spray my air bags with silicone to keep them from dry rotting.
Be careful w/armor all will dry out rubber over time and cause dry rot
Armor All has (had?) a lot of alcohol in it. When you used it and kept using it on a regular basis you were fine, but once you stopped using it you ran into issues of dryout.
It was a big deal a while ago, but I never used them before that came to light and I'll definitely never use them after that happened. I've been a Meguiar's guy for over 20 years and they haven't let me down yet!

I also use some spray silicone when I rotate my wife's wheels (she has a FWD Santa Fe) to coat the boots on her drive shafts. I had a CV boot blowout at 85K and the mechanic told me the joint was fine and would have lasted another 85K if the boot hadn't let go. Now I always spray some silicone on the boots. An ounce of prevention...
I don't agree with the Armor all accellerating tire dry rot. My 67 conv. had the same tires for 20+ years and the BFG AT''s on my Bronco which have been sitting outside for 6 yrs. still look good (probably a bit out of round though) and always used the AA.
I use it often in the summer but obviously don't bother in the winter. I have tried a few tire shines but haven't been happy with them. I'm sure there are others that are superior but the Armor all suits my needs.
