For those who are on the fence about getting the bellowed uppipes, get them. I replaced my uppipes back in Feb 2007 with the OEM version pipes, hardware, and baby's butt. Recently, I found them to be leaking again. I could smell an exhaust leak upon start up. The OEM version is crap and I don't want have to do this every 2 years. The pipe was worn away so bad on the passenger side, you could jiggle the donut on the pipe. I will be putting on the IH bellowed uppipes and GTP38R today.
Get the bellowed uppipes and fix it right. Probably the last set you will ever need.
i just did mine this week, replaced the gaskets i mean. everything was siezed solid. tool me about 7 hrs to complete. then i drove to the international dealer and priced the up pipes. $568.00.... and im still thinking about doing it. that ford set up is terrible.
I would love to do it but I cannot afford those pipes right now. What can you do to make them last better didn't someone suggest another way to make them last longer?

If you end up wanting them let me know. I am selling them for $387.51 right now... Save you almost $200!

You can try donuts out of a Chevy, but even those leak eventually too. Bellowed up-pipes or Diesel Innovations up-pipes are the permanent fixes.

Right, Curtis.
The SBC donuts are more of a "bandaid' type fix. While they will seal to even a worn pipe, they will require retightening or replacement, eventually. The SBC are thicker and softer. They provide a good "crush". But, being thicker, the the donut does not allow the flanges to "bottom out" with each other, when tightened down. This will allow the bolts to loosen up due to donut shrinkage and require later tightening to maintain the integrity of the seal. The uppipes with the flat, metal seal do not require any "maintenance".
if you go with the chevy donut..you want the cheap dontuts..there softer and crush better for a good seal..you also want to cake the anti sieze right to them when you put them in..this helds them slip in and seal better as well...beans has brass donuts..not sure how good they work..
I have never seen a brass gasket on an exhaust system before. i wonder how they hold up?
As for the chevy ones they might last alittle longer but they always end up leaking as well. its just a chitty set set up.
i even took my turbo off to get at the flange to heat it with a torch. you can bet the truck now has some never seize to burn off on every bolt and clamp...lol.
Just talked to Roland and he had a harder time getting the up-pipes on then we had with mine. He will finish tomorrow. He did get Joe going after working all night last night. I think Joe left at 5:00 this morning. Roland is picking up his wife at the airport in Houston tonight, then I am sure he will get some sleep.
