So I walked in to my local NAPA today to pick up a tranny pan filter, as I plan to swap out the filter and change the fluid. They have 3 different options for a 2004 Ford F150 4.6L New Body style pickup 2WD.
Options are:
E40D/4R100 - 3 1/2 Shallow Pan
E40D/4R100 - 4 3/4 Deep Pan
5R110W
What gives here, and how do I know which one I would need? Did they make more than one Auto tranny for these trucks as options?
Are you sure you have a 4R100? Check the door jamb for the transmission code, then look it up in your owners manual. I don't think the 5R110W came in F150s, and they may be quoting you F250/350 parts. Or their manual or computer lookup could be wrong.
You don't have the 5R110W tranny, it's a SD tranny. You just need to measure from the bottom of your pan to the flange and you'll know which to tell them. The gasket should be the same, but the filter may be slightly different between the deep and shallow pan.
