E40D Trans filter clips - Needed or Not?

E40D Trans filter clips - Needed or Not?
Servicing my trans today and changing pan to a 4WD pan with drain plug. I read somewhere that the filter on the E40D has a tendency to slip down and into pan causing tranny do weird things. Apparently this enough to have a company make clips that secures filter in position so that it does not slip down into pan.
Any of you experience your trans filter slipping down into pan? Just wondering if this is a needed mod or not.
BTW.....4WD pan has small raised nubs at bottom of pan to hold filter up
