Junkyard it! go shopping for the vehicles that NumberDummy (Thnx!) listed above and see if those brackets line up. Or kindly ask NumberDummy about PN's for brackets from those listed above...

I pulled the whole serpentine setup with the saginaw from an econoline and stuffed that into my '78's 300ci. Not sure about if Ford made serpentine brackets for the 360, but this paragraph is getting off topic.

edit: Hah, for the 400 doh.

The 360 is an FE and as far as I know, all FEs are pre-serpentine era engines. You might could install serpentine on an FE but it would have to be done (modified) without the support of direct-fit factory brackets.

The pump talked about in this thread has been discontinued awhile. I got lucky and found a used one in a junkyard but only after I already converted to the standard saginaw setup using van brackets. The pump that is discontinued was a direct bolt in replacement for 77 and up style ford c2 pumps and that is what is special about them. Good luck finding one. The canned ham looking pump will work just as well too with some hose modifications and the proper brackets. There is a company making brackets or kits for the 351m and 400. I've heard that sometime a pressure reducer is needed, is this true? I plan on going with a Red Head steering box down the road. I'd like to upgrade my pump at the same time. With my 35" tires if I can make things work easier the truck will be better.

Mid eighties to mid nineties Ford econoline vans came oem with a saginaw pump and bracket. Find one in the j/y with the engine you have, and take what you need for a core or bracket.

Ford FE Saginaw Power Steering Bracket (390, 427 & 428)

They also sell a pump, but you can get one cheaper at the local auto parts store.

That looks good and clean. Nice set up. I'm sure you'll be happy with the difference.

Since I changed over to hydroboost brakes, I can really feel a slowness to the steering. Parking lots are the worst. I'm changing to the Saginaw p/s pump that came on a 76 LTD with a 460. It should bolt right up to my Econoline bracket.

I find it interesting that Ford put the Sag/hydroboost combo on LTD wagons in the seventies, but didn't offer it on their trucks. No need, I guess.

Is your power steering pump plumbed with one return line or, is it plumbed with two return lines?

This is a Saginaw PS pump designed for hydroboost brakes. It has two return line ports --one dedicated to the power steering and the other dedicated to the hydro brake booster.

If your PS pump has a single return, two objects are trying to flow fluid into one return back to the reservoir. This would cut down the flow rate of the available fluid coming back to the pump.

Other sources/further information likely available. This is just some information I found from a brief internet search on this pump designed specifically for a hydroboost application.

That is true regarding the dual return lines. I have a single return.

But it should also be noted that the Saginaw designed for HB will flow much more than my oem ford pump not designed for HB. So, simply creating another return line would not equal the flow of the Saginaw pump.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but that price seems very high. A new pump can be purchased for $100; a rebuilt for $50. So that would mean $300 for the bracket? Okay.

Here is a write up I did on my '77 F150. The bracket kit came from CVF Racing. I purchased another kit for the 460 I'm installing as we speak here. The only issue I had with the 460 bracket kit was I had to shorten the spacers a little so the pulley's would line up nicely. I think they have a bracket kit for the FE's as well.

As I listed in the write up you can go to Autozone etc...and get a rebuilt pump for a early '70's to mid '70's Pontiac Firebird/Transam with a V8.

Later, Shortbox4x4

That's great. I'm glad it worked for you. I used one from a 76 Ford LTD wagon with a 460 and Hydro boost. Auto Zone, rebuilt, with reservoir, $50. I took the bracket off an Econoline van, with a 300.

I thought about simply using the van's pump, and soldering on another return line, but thought that since it didn't have the hydro brakes, it prob. didn't move as much fluid.
