So my power steering pump ate a quart of Power Steering fluid in a week. Yay.
Is there a common place these like to leak. I am having a hard time pinpointing the spot. Do these pumps fail? When there is fluid in It makes the Power Steering wine when you turn.
I just got this truck for free and am freshening up the pieces I see as problems So that it will be a reliable daily driver.
Just buy a new one. I own a 74 f100 same problem when i first bought it three years ago. Mine was a scrapyard special for free since my family owns a big one. It is a common problem for older trucks when they first get going on the road. Goodluck with the truck man
About the only two places a pump can leak are the input shaft seal or the reservoir housing. You're better off swapping it out with another unit.
Are you sure it's the pump leaking? It's very common for the steering box to leak on these trucks. Hoses are another common leak point.

Yeah. So I never said it was the pump. Just that it ate a quart. I was looking for the feedback of what to look at specifically. I did discover that it ate my first belt. And all the fluid is thereish. It is indeed looking. I am just trying to locate the spot.
