I never thought about someone stealing my tailgate with the steps, but it makes sense, I sure would be pissed off if I had to pay $1,000 for a new one, and the migrant worker population here in new orleans has grown since hurricane katrina so I put a power lock kit on it I found on e-bay.

That's what I wanted to do, but the power kit's don't work on an 09. I found out that the hard way. Anyone but me think this should be a factory installed option? I bet mine is even more $$ with the camera in the handle...
I bought a kit made by dyno lock that should work, the kit# is s-08c I think. I have the '08 with the step, it probably is the same as yours. It is kind of a pain to install until you figure it out, it does not activate the lock it has a rod that slides back and forth and prevents the handle from opening. Check it out on e-bay.

Will look into it. I know the 09's are different than the 08's. The Pop and Lock model for the 08 won't fit an 09.
I guess you could just keep it locked until one comes out, I don't know how often you use the gate, but I use my truck for work and use it several times a day so the lock really helps because I probably would not lock it otherwise. Let me know if you find a kit that actually activates the lock instead of just blocking the handle from operating.
No actual lock, but i did email Dynalock as you recommended. They do have a kit for the 09's so I may give it a try. Thanks much. By the way, the Pop and Lock kit does work on the 08's and does activate the actual lock if that what you are looking for.
I've tried to see if there was a way to work the actual lock and I don't think there is as that is usually a function of the latch on the regular doors.
