Bigtime... It is actually quite a bit more response than I had thought... the more I drive it the more I like it!! big diff. in my truck, and not quite as much black smoke i noticed too... might be burning the fuel a little better... I duno...
Same deal here. I wasn't expecting much cause most people say you can't tell any difference with stock 120 IDM's. I got much more low end throttle response that I thought. Haven't noticed the smoke though, and mine doesn't smoke at all right now (no tuning for a few more weeks). My first mileage check will be on the trip to Spokane. Figure I'll get a base on the way there, and get the after tuning numbers on the way back!
yours should be the 120, i believe the 99.5-03 are all 120's. I did JD's, his truck is a 2000, he had the 120. Of all the people i've heard do it, none of the 99.5-03 7.3s had anything other than the 120.
They are located inside the fender on the drivers side directly behind the 250 or 350 emblem. To get it out you have to either remove the fender liner, or get it pulled back enough to get it out, I will tell you right now it is a PITA, but it is the hardest part of it all really. There are 2 bolts that hold the IDM to the body panel, and one bolt that hold the wiring harness connector to the idm. Hope this helps man. If you want I can forward you the pm I sent bergerson about a week ago about the idm mod.

I would like to add something for anyone else reading this thread.
As the others have mentioned, it does make a good improvement on throttle response especially in lower rpms. Now that being said, if you have a 6spd like I do and are thinking about doing the IDM mod, just so you know, it does make it a little touchy in lower gears, and when gettin back on the go pedal after a shift, it def took some getting used to with it being that sensitive, but you'll get used to it, and I dont mean to make it sound bad in anyway, just stating the fact of the difference. Just throwing that out there in case anyone was wondering.
