Any of you guys running that Cooper SST?? A little deeper, anyone tried the SST against the Toyo M/T?? The Cooper looks almost just like the Toyo and it's a helluva lot cheaper. Just checking to see how that tire performs, rides, handles, etc compared to the Toyo. The Toyo is my top choice for tires right now, but the Cooper looks great, super cost alternative, and it's something different since everyone and their brother has the Toyo's. Thanks guys.
Well, here's some info I found that may help you guys out if interested...
I called around pricing both today and discovered that in my size (305/70 16) there's barely a $200 price difference betwee the two...no where near the savings I was expecting from the Cooper. And since I tow a trailer, the Toyo is an E rated tire and the Cooper is not, thus not making the savings worth anything to me. I personally say it basically comes down to looks as the cost doesn't offset it enough to sway me one way or the other.
I have E-rated 35x12.50x18 Cooper STTs on my F250 and love them. Not too loud on the highway either. Next tires will be 37x12.50s though and they aren't offered in that size
The 235/85 16 STTs my wife was considering for her PowerSmoke were Load Range E. They also make an ST (only one T), which is less aggressive tread, but cheaper, and one of the few E tires with any kind of treadwear warranty (50,000 miles). But Load Range might be a factor of size; if it's not an E in your size, I'd pass, as the last thing you want is an underrated / overloaded tire.
