In the land of my birth ( northwest Ohio) there used to be alot of clubs and mud races, none of the races were really orginized. Between the locals not likeing the noise and the law showing up to nail us for bumper regs they all dried up. Man I am glad I moved to promised land lol, here in Kentucky we have no bumper hieght law (just keep it out of the stratosphere) and they leave you alone. We had a Ford runnin around here in Boone county called Diablo that the bumpers were about chest high and legal lol.
Not that I know of Dave. What town was it near? I used to go to Bascom Oh.. It used to be great till it became just the big pros runnin mud dragsters. They were neat but I always liked the common guys beatin on they're street rigs lol. Back then I ran a 78 cj5 with a AMC 360 4barrell with np435 np208 9"ford in back dana 44 front 4:11"s on 38"s. About a total of 8" lift. It drew cops all the time. Might have been the bumper sticker " If you can't stop smile as you go under!!!" lol. It was my daily driver as well back when gas was anywhere from $.90-$1.09 a gallon. THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!!!!!!!!
We went up to Foster about 15 years ago. Played in the mud a little, but I stayed out of the big holes that would have swallowed my 36's. Had more fun watching the big trucks bury themselves. And the stock trucks that thought they were big. I remember a brand new F250 PSD, chained up on all 4, attempting one of the bigger holes and burying it over the hood. The rumor was that it was his dad's truck.
It's too bad they shut it down. I remember many issues coming up with the
4wd club that was putting it on (the club I was in was in the same region). County permits, security, safety and insurance caused a lot of headaches for it to be run on public land.
Is the new location as good as the reservoir was?
Jason
If it's in the same place as usual (I'm not totally sure yet) it is REALLY good.
There's some good mild wheeling spots, gnarly hill climbs with holes half way up etc.
You can take anything there and find some fun.
Jumps, obstacle courses, drag races, about anything you can think of.
It's the best "organised" event I've ever been to and it's 15-20 min. away from me.
