New or old motor?

I'm looking for opinions! Everybody has one, so let me hear it. Please.

I currently have a 302ci bored 0.60", in my 79 f100 (orginal engine) I plan on putting a 347 stroker in my truck in the short future. So my question is would you guys put a crete 347 in or build the old 79?

I already have a ford 9" rear end and 4.10 gears!

id get a block that's never been bored out and then build a 347 with that. .060" is too much.

no.. after i posted i also thought about telling you to go with a 408w. they are fairly straight forward as a 347 would be and it will make more power and be more reliable.

Will that require a 351 block? So I take it that you are not a fan of crete motors! So my orginal motor is not really worth anything, except to say " Its the orginal motor"
Thanks for your input!

yeah... i like custom builds. i dont think it will matter if you have the org. engine in it or not. keep it around if you are worried about it.

Auto! With a 9" rear end and currently 4.10's may change to 3.73's.

Then go with a crate motor if you got the bucks. You see since the old trucks ran the clutch linkage off the engine block and ford stoped doing that with their newer vehicles, a windsor crate motor would not have the casting provision to run the clutch linkage off of. Even though you have a auto figured it was worth while to put that info out there for anyone following this that has a stick and was thinking about the same things as you.

how about instead of spending the money on the stroker, just buy a larger OEM engine and put a good set of heads on it.

To put a bigger motor in with heads would cost the same as building or buying a stroker. I had a guy price me the bottem end pkg. for $700. An jegs priced me a set of aluminum heads, cam an intake pkg. for $1800.

How much do you think it would cost to put it together?

A stroker bottom end done with machine work is going to be similar in cost to a H/C/I.

You'll make more power with a stock displacement engine with H/C/I over stroker anything with stock heads.
