craislist.....wooowhoo

I've never been burned selling/buying things on craigslist. Even if it's out of state and I have to send them money first, it's always been good results.
However, I feel craiglist is being run by the gov and it's their way of keeping up with everone. """xfiles"""

Thats funny. I kinda feel there are way too many scammers on that site. Dont get me wrong. There are lots of good deals, too. But you do have to be careful.

I am starting to like craigslist more and more over Evilbay....but as with any type of selling buying market place there will always be good experiences and bad experiences. Just be careful. I have had good luck so far with both an have been fortunate. I had one guy burn me over shipping costs on evilbay. They were posted clear as day on the ad as to what it would cost. Then he tried to get me to ship it for about half because thats what he thought it should be. I charge only what it costs, no more no less. I always list what it will be for shipping. Guess he didnt clearly understand the english language

I love craigslist.
More often than not you are dealing with a real person, not a company trying to peddle their stuff. You can email or call them directly with questions, etc.
I've gotten 4 cords of free firewood this past fall already and could get plenty more if I needed it.
My experience has been nothing but positive, even if the folks are sometimes a little weird. You can still get things hammered out or find out enough about them that you decide not to make the deal after all.

Whenever i get on to look for cars in SD there are always 5-10 listings that are scammers. Do these scammers think were that stupid? Yeah i believe this 2004 BMW for $3,400 is in SD with palm trees in the background. If i ever got my hands on one of those SOBs, lets say that they wouldnt be able to type on a computer for awhile. Other than that, I love craigslist.

With both CL and Ebay, you get what you pay for. Since its free to sell on CL,many people post poorly worded, improperly spelled or badly/inaccurately described items. Its a great place for lazy people to sell something. dont misinterpret what ive said, there are some good buyers and sellers on CL,and i personally have had some good luck as both a buyer and a seller, but ive had my share of screwballs, too. Take a look through some of the vehicle ads in particular, and see how many look really amatuerish.

I have had some real creepy folks show up to look at items I had on craigslist, they dont get any further than the top of the driveway at the gate. I had a friend who mysteriously was burglarized after showing some items for sale in his garage to folks off craigslist, He had NEVER been burglarized before his craigslist selling spree!.....use some caution with CL.

I have been using CL for years with good success. I do not do any business on evilbay anymore, I haven't for several years. Selections are a bit slim here, but when I was in western WA it was a big thing.
Things I have gotten on CL:
Three rental houses
Two trailers
Two trucks, my f250 and my Courier
Wagoneer
Three dogs
Jobs
Tools
Wife
I have also sold a lot on there, with mixed success. There are a lot of flakes on there, but you can tell the really bad ones- They usually get told that it's already gone.

I have heard from several people ebay and CL are owned by the same co. any truth to that ? They seem to both share the same policy's on some items like firearms.

I am intersted in all of your opinions! Please take them off Craigslist immediately, and I will send a certified cashiers cheque for $500 over your asking price. You see, I live in New York, and my job won't allow me to call you to work out the details. I sill send my shipping agent to pick up the item if you will cash the cheque, and pay him the remainder!

I get at least 3 of those a week with all the stuff I post on Craigslist for sale. Usually, it's the more expensive items that they home in on, as there is more potential gain for them with this particular scam. For example, all of the 428 Cobra Jet stuff that I've got on there, especially the heads, gets a couple of those emails a week. I usually tell the sender that I'm amazed that anyone falls for that anymore, and that I hope they get hit by a bus. I usually never hear from them again...until the next item I put up for sale.

I sell and buy things on both CL and evilbay and they both have there problems, nut jobs/scamers on CL and sellers that can't be truthful about there items on evilbay,Ebays charges are getting out of hand anymore but I am not letting people I don't know come into my home to sell small things I have so I use them and I use CL for bigger things like mowers, bicycles and things that I don't want to ship.

I only do local sales on CL.

I sold my motorcycle,
Just last night we sold a 1998 GMC Sonoma.
various collectible vintage BMX parts.
and now we have other items for sale on CL.

I do buy items off of Ebay and I have always been
successful. I pretty much bought all the parts
for my Vtwin chopper build off of Ebay.

Either way, both do offer items at lower prices. The only bad
thing about buying items from the mainland is the SUPER HIGH
shipping costs.

I do agree, CL is great, it is the my "web-mistress" to FTE.

I've had good luck with both ebay and CL so far, buying and selling. Sold a truck and snowmobile on ebay and bought 1 car and many other small items. Bought 3 snowmobiles on CL. As with anything used, it's buyer beware. Know what you're looking at and get a second opinion if you need to. The scammers are usually pretty easy to spot, but they are annoying.
