Or the wheels fell off, the tranny fell out or the drive shaft fell out.

All are very possible and equally embarrassing.

What causes the late 90's Dodge 1500's front passenger and all just to fall off while driving down the Interstate? I know 2 guys that that has happened to, and my response would hmm, never heard of a Ford doing that.

Unit bearings on the front end of a 4wd, like what a FWD car has? Now everyone is running them, including Ford.

Just gotta keep up on it.

Yeah, 94 up Dodge 4wds with solid axle. And Ford started using them in 99 on the SD solid axles. GM has been using them on their full size since the 88 body change, but in IFS form.

Hmm, I've never heard of entire passenger front wheel ejection happening for Fords or Gm's, but I've seen it happen twice to Dodge 1500's

Actually I think Dodge got a bad shipment or two of ball joints if I remember right.

There was a recall, they were changing ball joints on almost every 4x4 vehicle line they had a couple years ago.

Thinking back that was about 6 years ago.

Pick the weight off the front suspension and the wheels fell off.

There was a recall for the ball joints on the Durango and Dakota pickups, but nothing on the full size trucks, as I recall.
