Ah, no sense preaching to the choir. A good truck is a good truck no matter who made it.
I'd LOVE to have a Toyota HiLux CrewCab, 4wd. straight axle 4wd. I guess I'll have to go to Australia or Africa and get one of the Billions they have.

Well ... I guess Toyotas are OK for light work ... and tough as nails ... unless you happen to be over 6 feet tall, like me, and your right leg won't fit safely between the steering wheel and the brake pedal!

I can still remember going through that red light in front of Officer Friendly (while driving my Dad's Hilux back in the 70s) when I hit the nerve just behind my kneecap on the steering wheel and my foot went straight to the floor on the go pedal.

You can keep the Hilux, I'll take a FJ78 Pickup, with the new 4.5L DOHC V8 Diesel, 200 hp, 317 ft/lb, not big numbers by our standards, but the torque is flat from 1200-3200, and it's coming from a much smaller engine than we are used to associating those numbers with. You have to wonder why they don't sell that engine here.
I'd also be checking off the box for the factory electric diff locks in both live axles(full floater in the rear to boot.) Unfortunately the removable top and fold down windshield have gone the way of the dodo due to safety regulations.

Has anyone seen this upcoming Indian import from Mahndra?

The crew cab looks interesting, although I don't think I would buy one.

They import sell tractors to the US, competing with Kubota, Kioti and similar.

Come to think of it I have heard of their tractors don't know that I've seen one though.
In my part the smaller tractors are not used very much so the import brands are not very common.
Even though a lot of the old standy brands are imports too.

the mahindra tractors are pretty popular down here, i dont think they are quite as much as a kubota but maybe more that a kioti.

Isn't it Mahindra? Or am I wrong?

I think it would be cool except it'll have computers and a particulate filter.

That's too big for me. I want a Compact CrewCab 4-banger turbo diesel.

The 70 series used to have a 4.2L straight six, and if you go back to the 80's, they had the 3B 4 cyl in them.
I've driven a couple of the SUV versions of the FJ70 and I actually fit pretty comfortably in them, not so much in a Hilux I'm too long in the shins for most imports and other such things with low seating positions.

Yes, MahIndra . My keyboard doesn't always keep up with what I'm typing.
POS laptop... keys are popping off and I have to hit them just right or they won't register.

Pretty much any new diesel coming in will be computer controlled and have a DPF or urea injection to meet emissions regs

If you by a real 4x4 like a jeep you could have a fold down windshield and a removable top. I like how the old fj40 had the wipers and hood latches upside down to disguise the fact that they were basicly ripping off the CJs.
