Transmission Temperature Sensor Question

I was wondering if anyone has a good suggestion on where to install a transmission temperature sensor on a E4OD PSD. I am basically upgrading mine and Jim suggested installing a temperature sensor. Dunno why that slipped my mind, anyhow I wanted to see if there is a prefered place to install the temperature sensor
and any recomendations on the maufature.

Put it in the line pressure test port on the driverside just above the pan. There is a 1/8 pipe plug there now.

I saw where there were some folks that said that was a good spot and where some said that got various readings. Is the spot your referencing a pressure test port?

Yes it is a pressure test port. IMO that is the best place to put the sensor. I monitor that with my normal gauge but my scan gauge also display the fluid temp sensor the PCM uses which is in the solenoid pack. The s-pack temp will be 15 to 20 degree hotter than the pressure port. With a good trans cooler (I use tru-cool 4739) you should never see higher than 180-200 at the pressure port unless you have a transmission that is slipping or the coverter is not locking up as it should.

:?) Thanks for the extra info. Cuda-Jim sent me a picture. I have seen where some recommend doing a pan gromet install. Is there a recomened Manufacture?

I don't know about pan mounting hardware. I don't like that idea just cause that offers another leak point for the future.

If your asking about gauge brands I like autometer but Isspro and Hewitt are other good brands.

That port will only work for electric gauges. I have an e-gauge on one of my trucks.
The Black truck I used a mech. gauge and mounted that probe in the pan. Careful weld job and no leak issues...
