I've got marks-(I won't call them scratches right now)kind of like scuffs on my windsheild from the previous owners neglect of not replacing wiper blade refills when the main squeegee wore out and the rough harder rubber made contact with the glass (everyone has seen this-right?)I've heard over the years that a product called "Jewlers Rouge" will take these marks off, but I'd like some opinions before I attempt anything. Thanks!
rouge and a hard cotton wheel will eventually get em out, but i mean eventually. glass scratches always seem deeper than they appear, and glass is really hard.
go to a rock shop and buy cerium oxide. It is used to polish glass. Use a firm felt pad and a drill motor. Keep the window wet to prevent gualing the surface. Mine came out great after I spent more time removing the gual marks than the origional haze. I had a hazed window where the wipers touched. It looks like new except for the stone pits that you can't do anything about.
Almost any sratch you can feel with a fingernail will not come out by buffing. There are kits available from glass shops locally that will take the haze off of glass. There is even some blu-gren paste I bought at a supply house once that works great for removing adhesive and tree sap from the glass. I would even remove silicon.
